I’ve been working steadily on animated segments for a multimedia theater piece titled Below U.S. It occurs June 3rd and 4th with a special free preview performance on June 2nd. The animated segments echo well-known skits from the Electric Company – stills soon!

Speedy, as he is nicknamed by his friends, seeks to find comfort within his complex identities. Labeled a gringo in Latin America and a Latino in the U.S., he experiences a state of perpetual banishment that makes him feel like an outsider abroad, at home, and even in his own skin. This multimedia play combines physical theater, video animation by Tess Martin, and text drawn from interviews with community members.

Created and performed by Manuel Castro and
Tikka Sears

June 3 and 4, 8:00PM, Ethnic Cultural Theater, 3931 Brooklyn Avenue, Seattle, WA, 98105. Tickets available at www.brownpapertickets.com, $5-$12. More info at www.memorywartheater.com
